Premiering at Craft Victoria for Melbourne Design Week 2026, this bench is part of a capsule collection of Banksia pieces that looked to, as designer Mark Lilly put it, ‘represent my intentions with this material, a quiet moment rather than a grand statement. I wanted to begin again at the start, with pragmatic, utilitarian forms and typologies’.
The design utilises a simple clover-petal motif, seen in traditional woodcarving, to highlight the junction between banksia and timber, subtly referencing the banksia’s floral nature.
Dimensions: 1245mm wide x 760mm tall x 400mm deep
Materials: Banksia Grandis seed pods, Walnut
